Success is sweet for Stockleys and Ossy Mills

Stockleys Sweet Shop and peoples’ favourite The World’s Largest Peardrop will be staying within Oswaldtwistle Mills when the Lancashire firm moves its manufacturing base down the road to Shadsworth.

The Stockleys name has been synonymous with its home in Oswaldtwistle Mills for over a decade, but the company has taken the decision to expand the manufacturing operation beyond the space available within the Mills and to bring together the packing and warehousing, that were on a separate site in Blackburn.

So that regular customers and first-time visitors alike won’t miss out on the sweets, the current shop will remain in situ within the Mills.

Managing director Boyd Hargreaves said: “It’s business as usual for fans of Stockleys Sweets. We have taken on the shop retained the staff and of course kept the World’s Largest Peardrop.”

Stockleys’ move to Shadsworth is a fantastic opportunity for the company to look to the future and grow whilst at the same time giving Oswaldtwistle Mills a similar chance to evolve.

It’s also particularly positive news for a business which only last autumn was almost drawn into a financial quagmire when its parent company (Mr Lucky Bags) was taken into administration.

Phil Lawson, Managing Director of Stockleys Sweets added: “We have invested heavily in new premises and additional production equipment that will enhance and safeguard the future of Stockleys Sweets going forward. We will also retain the presence in the Mills which is a bonus for all concerned” added

Boyd added: “This has worked out very well for both businesses, our customers still get their favourite sweet treats and we now have options to fill the vacant space with a new attraction.”
